Iran on Wednesday banned 12 female actors from acting in films and TV serials. An official said the female artist failed to follow the Islamic Republic’s strict dress code. Headscarves are mandatory in the Islamic Republic dress code, but they were also not enforced. Due to which it was banned.

These artists were banned from working
According to Iranian media reports, 12 actors, including actresses Tarneh Alidosti, Katyoun Riahi and Fatemeh Motamed Arya, have been accused of violating dress code rules. They will not be allowed to work in films.
A dress code has been in place for women since 1983
Neck and head coverings have been compulsory for women since 1983 following Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution. However, women are increasingly violating the dress code. Iran has stepped up crackdowns on women and businesses violating hijab rules in the past few months.
Violation of the rules is punishable by up to 10 years
The Islamic government of Iran has enacted a law that provides severe punishment for not wearing the hijab. Here, not wearing the hijab can result in heavy fines and up to 10 years in jail. There was a lot of controversy over the hijab here and women took to the streets to protest against it. Amidst this controversy, the government passed this controversial law making the wearing of hijab absolutely mandatory.
