Qatar has been engaged in serious negotiations to establish and extend a cease-fire in Gaza, with the support of the United States and Egypt, during the ceasefire and a few weeks ago. which the arbitrators said was designed to be broad and expansive.
During its first three days, the group released 39 Israeli hostages in exchange for 117 Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli prisons as part of an agreement between the two sides.
As a result of parallel talks led by the Gulf state, 17 Thais, a Filipino and a dual Russian-Israeli citizen have also been released by the Palestinian group.
Hamas attacked on October 7
