Ankit Shwetabh: Chhath festival is celebrated every year on Shashti Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Kartak month. Celebrated for four days, this festival is a major festival associated with Hindu folk faith. It has been given the status of a great festival. Chhath Parva is one of the most difficult fasts. During this time devotees observe Nirjal fast for more than 30 hours and worship the six mothers and Lord Surya. On the final day morning, devotees break their fast by offering arghya to the rising sun. This year Chhath Mahaparva has started from 17 November 2023 which will end with Arghya in the morning of 20 November 2023. It is believed that whoever observes this Vrata with complete purity, chastity and a pure heart, all his desires are fulfilled by Chatthi Maiya. According to Hindu mythology, the sixth Maya is the sister of Lord Surya and the psychic daughter of Lord Brahma. The sixth Maiya is also mentioned in Srimad Bhagavata Mahapurana. According to this, the sixth Maya appeared from the sixth part of nature. Lord Kartikeya is described in Puranas as the husband of mother. Means the sixth Maiya is the daughter-in-law of Mahadev. In mythology it is said that the sixth Maia is the goddess of fertility and nature. It is believed that when Lord Brahma was creating the universe, he divided himself into two parts. One part was divided as man and the other as nature. After this nature also divided itself into 6 parts, one of which is Mother Goddess. Chatthi Maiya is also considered to be the sixth form of Mother Goddess.
