Conspiracy to kill Khalistani terrorist Pannu? America sued the Indian

New Delhi. The US has arrested an Indian national for conspiring to kill Khalistani terrorist and founder of Sikhs for Justice Gurpatwant Singh Pannu. Pannu holds US and Canadian citizenships. The Indian government has declared him a terrorist. The US attorney’s office said Wednesday that the man, Nikhil Gupta, was arrested by Czech authorities in June and is awaiting extradition. Lawyers said Pannu is a tireless critic of the Indian government who, while living in the US, led an organization that advocated for the secession of the Indian state of Punjab.

It was said that Punjab is the stronghold of Sikhs in India. Pannu’s organization Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) has been banned in India. “The defendants conspired to kill an American citizen of Indian origin here in New York City,” said Damian Williams, a top federal prosecutor in Manhattan, according to a report published by news agency Reuters. Last week, a senior Biden administration official said US officials foiled a plot to kill a Sikh separatist on American soil and warned India of concerns about New Delhi’s involvement. The official said that Pannu was the target of this conspiracy.

America sent intelligence officers to India
The US has been asked to press for investigation and prosecution of those responsible for an alleged plot to kill a Sikh separatist leader on American soil earlier this year, an American media outlet said, citing a senior administrator in the case presented on Wednesday. Two of its top intelligence officers were sent to India. Federal prosecutors are expected to file superseding charges against Indian national Nikhil Gupta in a New York court on Wednesday in connection with a plot to target and kill separatist Khalistan leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, according to The Washington Post.

Formation of Committee for Inquiry in India
The report comes a day when India said it has set up a high-level inquiry committee to look into allegations related to a plot to kill a Sikh extremist on US soil. According to a Washington Post report, the USA has discovered a plot to kill a separatist Sikh leader on American soil. It said the issue has been raised by top leadership including President Joe Biden and CIA Director William J Burns and they have demanded New Delhi to hold those responsible.
