AQI over 450 in some places
Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded above 450 at some places in Delhi this morning. The most affected areas are RK Puram (453), Punjabi Bagh (444), ITO (441) and Anand Vihar (432). The national capital is shrouded in toxic smog, prompting doctors to express concern about the rising number of respiratory and eye diseases among children and the elderly. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, the air quality across Delhi remains in the ‘severe’ category. Early morning AQI was 432 in Anand Vihar, 453 in RK Puram, 444 in Punjabi Bagh and 441 in ITO.

To combat the growing air pollution crisis in the capital, the Supreme Court has proposed that the Delhi government consider banning app-based taxis registered in other states from plying within the national capital. Delhi Transport Minister Gopal Rai, reacting to the suggestion, said that he has entrusted his department with the task of implementing the court’s recommendation.

Delhi Govt steps to curb pollution
In view of the deteriorating air quality, the Delhi government has announced winter vacation for all schools in the capital. The government has said that the winter holidays in December will be adjusted from November 9 to 18. In view of increasing pollution, Delhi government has taken this step for the welfare of children. At the same time, Delhi government also announced implementation of odd-even. But his plan is still incomplete. In fact, the Supreme Court has asked the Delhi government what was the benefit of applying odd-even earlier too. Now the Delhi government will have to answer this question of the court in the hearing to be held on Friday. Only after this the implementation of odd-even will be considered.
