Tanuja turned 78 on November 23 but age has failed to dim the sparkle in her eyes and her beauty. Both these qualities have been inherited by his daughter Kajol. This powerful actress has worked in different film industries across India. Tanuja has acted in films like Jewel Thief, Hathi Mere Sathi, Do Chor, Jewel Thief, Mere Jeevan Sathi and yet she has never taken her career as competition. For him, it was about connecting with his colleagues and enjoying his work. Perhaps he enjoys recounting his experiences just as much. Similarly, during his film career, he narrated an incident related to ‘Besharam’ Dharmendra.
Tanuja reminisced about her life and co-stars in her own style, telling how she was friends with Dharmendra and also met his wife Prakash Kaur. But the day the actor tried to flirt with her, she first slapped him and later, on his request, tied a rakhi on his wrist and made him his brother. Tanuja said, “We were shooting for Dulal Guha’s Chand Aur Sooraj. Dharam and I were drinking buddies and had a lot of fun together. He also introduced me to my wife Prakash. Sunny (Deol) was then only five years old while his daughter Laali was about six months old. Tanuj had this conversation with Filmfare.
He continued, ‘One day he tried to flirt with me. I was surprised and slapped him saying, ‘Shameless! I know you have a wife and you dare to flirt with me. Embarrassed, he pleaded, ‘Tanu, my mother, forgive me! After saying a lot, Tanuja took a black thread and tied it like Rakhi on Dharmendra’s wrist.
