A sad news has come from the Indian film industry, where a senior actor and director has passed away. On this day, Ramarathanam Shankar breathed his last and left this world at the age of 92. The actor was born on June 12, 1931 and died on Thursday, December 14, 2023. Shankar worked mainly in Tamil and Telugu films. He has acted in many films and also played supporting roles in some Telugu films. Sankaran (R Sankaran) is the cousin of actor Jawar Sitharaman, he collaborated with many directors in directing.

He is known for playing Revathi’s father in the Tamil film ‘Mouna Ragam’ directed by Mani Ratnam and starring Karthik. Noted director Bharathiraja condoled through his social networking page and wrote in Tamil, ‘Death of my teacher, director Shri. Very sad to hear the news of Ra Sankaran Sahib. My deepest condolences to his family who will miss him.

Ramaratnam Sankaran was a well-known name in the Tamil film industry as an actor and associate director. Some of Raa Shankaran’s other best films include Oru Kaidiyin Diary, Pathimoonam Number Veedu, Aamaran, Chinna Gounder, Sathi Lilavati and Kadhal Kottai. She was last seen in 1999 in director Sundar C’s ‘Azhgarasamy’ starring Sathyaraj and Roja.

Ra. Ra. Shankar directed several award-winning Tamil films such as Vellum Mayilam Thunai, Kumari Penin Ulathile and many others. His other directorial ventures include Sindhuthe Vanam (1975), Oruvanukku Oruthi (1977) and Durga Devi (1977).
