“G20 isolated Russia…”, French President Emmanuel Macron praised PM Modi

The two-day G-20 summit concluded on Sunday in the Indian capital, New Delhi. In which the leaders of many big countries of the world participated. French President Emmanuel Macron said most of the G20 countries condemned the Russian attack on Ukraine. This made it clear that most of the G20 countries had isolated Russia. A day after the statement issued by G20 leaders, French President Emmanuel Macron said Sunday afternoon that it was a 100 percent unanimous declaration.

Addressing reporters on Sunday, Macron said simply that Russia is still fighting a war. He also said that “the G20 is committed to a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.” Macron also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his “words of peace”. French President Macron said that India has performed well considering the current divisive environment. As G20 chairman, he said, we will further develop defense cooperation with India.

What did PM Modi say?

Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday renewed his emphasis on reforming global institutions, including the United Nations, and said the world’s “new realities” should be reflected in a “new global architecture” as it is the law of nature. Citing the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) as an institution in need of change at the ‘One Future’ session of the G20 summit, Modi said, “Global institutions need to work together to move the world towards a better future.” “Must reflect today’s realities.”
