India suffered a 6-wicket defeat at the hands of Australia in the final of the World Cup 2023 on Sunday. India missed out on their third ODI World Cup title while Australia lifted the trophy for the sixth time. Australia were given a target of 241 runs at the ground in Ahmedabad, which they easily achieved in 43 overs thanks to a century from Travis Head and a half-century from Marnus Labuschagne. Kangaroos all-rounder Glenn Maxwell (2 not out) scored the winning runs in the title fight. After Team India’s defeat, Maxwell’s wife Vini Raman was trolled a lot on social media. Many users said that Vinny is supporting Australia despite being of Indian origin. Many people sent him hateful messages. Indecent comments were also made during the tournament.
After becoming the champion of Australia, Winnie has now hit the trollers badly. He said that despite being an Indian you can support the country where you were born. Let us tell you that Vinnie was born in Melbourne, Australia. She grew up in Australia. She and Maxwell got married in March 2022. The two have a son, Logan. Winnie shared her post on Instagram on Monday. He wrote in the caption that Melbourne – Singapore – Delhi – Dharamshala – Ahmedabad – Mumbai – Pune – Kolkata – Ahmedabad – Singapore – Melbourne. A trip of a lifetime that Logan will never forget.
He said in the last slide of the post that I can’t believe this needs to be said but you can be an Indian and support the country where you are born and brought up. More importantly, you can support the team that your husband, the father of your child, plays for. Breathe a sigh of relief and channel your anger towards other important issues in the world.
It is worth mentioning that Maxwell performed effectively in the World Cup. He added 400 runs in 9 matches at an average of 66.66 and a strike rate of 150.37. Maxwell played two very memorable innings in the tournament. He scored a 40-ball century against Netherlands, the fastest century in ODI World Cup history. Apart from this, Maxwell also helped Australia to win the match they lost against Afghanistan. He scored a storming double century in 126 balls in the match.
