In view of the surge in Covid-19 cases in many parts of the country, the Bihar government has directed officials to share all cases of influenza-like illness and severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) on the Integrated Health Information Platform (IHIP). Additional Chief Secretary (State Health Department) Pratyay Amrit, in a letter dated December 22 to all district magistrates, heads of all medical colleges and hospitals and civil surgeons, said, “The authorities concerned in the state have been advised to take immediate action. Influenza-like illness and severe acute respiratory syndrome prevent infection.

The health department should speed up testing. The health department should increase the testing rate and ensure availability of drugs, equipment, oxygen cylinders and adequate staff in all hospitals.
Two cases of Kovid-19 have been reported in the state so far. One of these patients had recently returned from Kerala and the other from Assam. Samples of both the patients have been sent for testing. One in two patients have been advised to stay in isolation at home.
