New Delhi. This time India has come to fulfill the dream of defeating South Africa in a Test series at its home. The veteran captain of the Indian team has toured South Africa so far but none got the chance to lift the trophy. Rohit Sharma has come hoping to do this feat. The South African coach has shouted to prevent India from doing so. The aim is to prevent Team India from performing at their best at home.
Former first-class player Shukri Konrad does not have extensive experience in international cricket but is the frontrunner to become South Africa’s full-time coach. The 56-year-old coach knows that India have never won a Test series in South Africa in eight attempts since 1992. This is the first time that India is playing a series of only two Test matches.
He said, “We definitely want to maintain that glorious record and make sure that India don’t manage to win. This is the biggest series of the year for South Africa. India have made it the ‘final frontier’ but we have to make sure We will try our best that they do not succeed.
India’s Test record in South Africa
The Indian team’s record against South Africa at home has not been good. So far, Team India has played a total of 23 Tests at home against the protégé team. Out of which only 4 matches have been won. 7 Test matches have been drawn while South Africa have won 12. From 1992 to 2021-22, Team India remained empty-handed in the Test series. South Africa have won 6 out of 7 series, while India managed to draw the series during the 2010–11 tour.
