Harampreet Kaur’s stunning bowling skills, India tighten their grip on Australia

Mumbai. After registering a historic Test victory against England, the Indian women’s team has also performed strongly against Australia. On the third day of the Test being played in Mumbai, India reduced the visiting team’s 5 wickets to 233 runs. At the end of the day’s play, Australia had a modest lead of 46 runs.

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur (2 for 23) took two last-minute wickets to lead India to a lone women’s Test cricket match against Australia on the third day on Saturday. By the end of the third day’s play, Australia had scored 233 for five in their second innings, giving them a lead of 46 runs. In reply to Australia’s 219 runs, India scored 406 runs in their first innings and took a lead of 187 runs.

Harmanpreet clean bowled Tahlia McGrath (73 off 177 balls, 10 fours) and then bowled a dangerous looking Alyssa Healy (32) lbw. Annabelle Sutherland was on 12 and Ashley Gardner was on seven when the stumps fell. The third day was in the name of Australia. India advanced to 376 for seven in the morning and lost their remaining three wickets after adding 30 runs in half an hour of play.

Sutherland (two wickets for 41 runs) was instrumental in dismissing India’s lower order batsmen. She dismissed yesterday’s unbeaten batsmen Pooja Vastrakar (47) and Renuka Singh (08) while Kim Garth dismissed Deepti Sharma (78), but before that the Indians set two new records. Deepti faced 171 balls in her innings and hit nine fours.

India’s total of 406 runs is the highest score in Test cricket against Australia. The 122-run partnership for the eighth wicket between Deepti and Vastrakar is a new record for India.
