What the department said
The Income Tax department said, “This is not a notice sent to all taxpayers. This is an advisory sent only in cases where ITR There is a clear discrepancy between the information provided in the RTI and the information received from the reporting entity.” Reporting entities reporting financial transactions include foreign exchange dealers, banks, NBFCs, sub-registrars, post offices, bond/debenture issuers. A mutual fund trustee, dividend paying or share buyback company.
Why the message was sent: Income tax department has sent this message regarding TDS and TCS deduction. ITR This was issued after the department received comments on social media that the information did not match. The purpose of this information is to facilitate taxpayers to provide feedback on the Income Tax Department portal. Besides, it is also intended to provide an opportunity to amend returns already filed or to file a new return if required. Further, the Income Tax Department has requested the taxpayers to respond to this message on priority basis.
We would like to inform you that the last date for late submission or amendment of returns for assessment year 2023-24 is 31st December, 2023. At the same time, even with the delay, the deadline for filling the form will expire.
