During his five-day visit to Russia, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that India and Russia on Tuesday signed agreements related to the construction of future power generation units of the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant in Tamil Nadu. Several important agreements were signed. S Jaishankar made this announcement while addressing the community. “Today we signed some very important agreements related to the future units of the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant (NPP),” he said.

Jaishankar called Russia a ‘special partner’
Addressing the community, Jaishankar described Russia as a special partner in several areas such as defence, nuclear energy and space. “Cooperation in defence, space and nuclear (energy) sectors is done with countries with whom you have a high level of trust,” he said. Jaishankar also said that both sides have agreed that individual negotiations on a free trade agreement between India and the Eurasian Economic Zone will be initiated. For this, the negotiation team of the two countries will meet for talks by the end of January next year.
