One of the reasons for celebrating Hindi Day on 14th September is that on this day in the year 1916 Beohar Rajendra Singh was born who played a major role in bringing Hindi into the Devanagari script. The first Hindi Day was celebrated on September 14, 1953 when the then Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru declared the day as Hindi Day.
