A trolley’s brakes failed on the Rau-Khalghat four-lane road in Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district on Monday evening, causing it to go out of control and enter the other lane. The uncontrolled trolley crushed four to five vehicles one after the other and badly damaged them. The collision with the trolley was so violent that four vehicles caught fire. Three people were burnt alive in this accident. Many people are said to have been injured in the accident, out of which the condition of three is said to be critical. Fire department teams are busy dousing the fire. The death toll may rise as some people are trapped in the burning vehicles.

The accident took place at Ganpati Ghat in Dhamnod near Indore. It is said that after the brakes of the trolley from the top of the ghat started going down, it collided with two cars and another vehicle on the other side of the ghat. After the collision, the vehicles caught fire. In no time, the fire spread so fast that vehicles on the highway stood still. The police stopped the traffic in both directions. Efforts to douse the fire were ongoing till the time of writing.

A bike was also engulfed in flames. Dhamnod police station has reached the spot. Fire brigade vehicles arrived from Dhamnod and Maheshwar and tried to extinguish the fire. People present at the spot said that some people traveling in cars and trolleys were burnt alive inside. The trolley cleaner has been saved in the accident. He has been taken to Dhamnod Hospital in an injured condition. He said that the driver was trapped inside after the collision. The trolley was coming from Indore. It was full of rods.
