New Delhi. After the three-match T20 series, the Indian cricket team came to play the same-match ODI series. The Indian team maintained the explosive performance they had in the last T20 against the hosts South Africa in the ODIs as well. The two bowlers of Team India, who came to bowl first, destroyed the batting order of the Proteas team. The result was that the entire team was bundled out for just 117 runs.
In the first match of the three-match ODI series against South Africa, the Indian bowlers brought the hosts to their knees. Proteas captain Aiden Markram won the toss and elected to bat first, but the two young fast bowlers of the Indian team proved the decision completely wrong. Arshdeep Singh opened the scoring in the match while Avesh Khan took four wickets. These two destroyed the South African batting and finally Kuldeep Yadav packed up the team completely.
2 Indian youths show their strength
Team India played a match in this format for the first time after their defeat at the hands of Australia in the ICC ODI World Cup final. The junior bowlers did the same feat as the senior players did at home. The pair of Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan took 9 wickets. Arshdeep took 5 wickets for 37 runs in 10 overs, while Avesh bowled 8 overs for 27 runs and dismissed 4 batsmen.
Best performance by Avesh and Arshdeep
Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan have not played a total of 10 matches for India so far. This is the first time that both these bowlers have taken 4 or more wickets to their account. Arshdeep played only 3 ODIs in which his wicket was empty. Awas took only 3 wickets in 5 ODIs.
