Team India’s veteran fast bowler Mohammad Shami may be out of the South Africa Test series. Shami was included in the Test squad, but it was still said that whether he would play the Test series would be decided based on his fitness. Shami, the highest wicket-taker in the ICC World Cup 2023, complained of a heel problem. He was also facing this problem during the World Cup. The Indian cricket team is currently on a tour of South Africa, with the final match of the three-match T20 international series being played today, while the three-match ODI international series is scheduled to be played from December 17 to 21. The players selected for the ODI series have reached South Africa, while the Test squad players will join Team India in South Africa via Dubai on December 15.

According to Cricbuzz news, Test team players including captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah will travel to Johannesburg on December 15. While Shami’s replacement is yet to be announced, it is believed that if Shami is left out of the Test squad, one of the Indian players already present in South Africa will be selected as a replacement. He may get an entry into the Test squad.

Currently, apart from the T20 and ODI international teams, a total of 75 Indian players, including India A, are in South Africa. On 30 November, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the squad for the tour of South Africa. The Test series between India and South Africa will begin on December 26 with the Boxing Day Test. The first Test match will be played in Centurion while the second Test match will be played in Cape Town. Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma sought respite from the limited overs format. Both will return to the field with the Test series.
