A month has passed since the disappointing final of the World Cup and after a long break, the senior players of the Indian team are all set to take the field once again. The Indian cricket team has not won a Test series in South Africa for 31 years but the Rohit Sharma-led Indian team has a golden opportunity to create history once again. India head coach Rahul Dravid on Sunday said the Test team is motivated to perform well in the much-awaited 2-Test series starting December 26 in South Africa.
Speaking to the media after the Indian team’s training session at Centurion, Rahul Dravid admitted that the players and support staff members were disappointed after India’s defeat in the World Cup final and asserted that it was time for the team to move on.
Rahul Dravid said that this has already happened before. Yes, this is frustrating. But we’ve gone beyond that. Now you have something in front of you. The player specializes in (advancing). You get frustrated when you’re out. You have to play second innings too. You have to perform better in the next innings.
So you can’t carry your disappointment with you. As a cricketer, you learn to deal with all these things when you are a kid. If you live with disappointment, it will affect your next match.
He continued, “Yes, the players are disappointed. We were all disappointed. But we have all moved on and are now looking at what is in front of us. I don’t think you need to motivate yourself to play for India. I don’t think any of our players lack motivation.
