Hardik Pandya is out of World Cup 2023 due to injury
Rahul Dravid said who can be an option for the sixth bowler?
New Delhi. Hardik Pandya is out of World Cup 2023 due to injury. After Pandya’s dismissal, the biggest question before Team India is who will play the role of the sixth bowler? However, in the last three matches, India won even after playing with 5 bowlers. But who will fill the place of the sixth bowler if needed? Head coach Rahul Dravid revealed this before the match against South Africa. When Dravid was asked about the sixth bowler in the press conference, he joked that Kohli could be used as a sixth bowling option if needed in the match against South Africa.
Let us tell you that Hardik Pandya got injured while bowling in the match against Bangladesh and had to leave the field. Kohli then bowled the remaining three balls of his over. He gave only 2 runs in these three balls. Even in the recent win against Sri Lanka, fans were clamoring for Virat to bowl. However, it has now become clear that Pandya will not play in the World Cup. In such a situation, not having a sixth bowler option is a big concern for Team India. Coach Dravid himself knows this. But, when he was asked a question in the press conference about the option of the sixth bowler, he named Virat Kohli to keep the atmosphere light.
Virat Kohli is a dangerous inswing bowler: Dravid
Rahul Dravid said in a press conference, “The reality is that we don’t have a good sixth-bowling option. (Jokingly) Yes, we definitely have a dangerous inswing bowler (Virat Kohli). I want Virat to bowl 1-2 overs. Spectators were also demanding in the last match that they should be bowled. We had to give one over to Virat in the last match as well.

‘We have played well even without the sixth bowler’
Dravid further said that Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma can also bowl if needed. However, the coach also said that the team has bowled well in the last few matches in the World Cup even without the option of a sixth bowler. In this regard, Dravid also mentioned the absence of Hardik. “You are right. Hardik used to give us a sixth bowler option. But you know we have played the last 4 matches without a sixth bowler. In the series against Australia before the World Cup we also played a few matches without a sixth bowler. Among them we played in Mohali and Indore. We played with five bowlers in both these matches.

The Indian head coach further said, “We have faced this challenge well. We won’t even have a sixth bowling option in the coming matches. But the team has dealt with it well. I think even without this option we have done well in the World Cup.”
