Australia has become the world champion for the sixth time after defeating India by 6 wickets in the final of World Cup 2023. Batting first in the title match, the Indian team could score only 240 runs after losing all the wickets in 50 overs. In reply, Australia won the match in just 43 overs with the help of Travis Head’s century. Marnus Labusche supported him well with a half-century. Chasing India’s target of 241 runs, Australia won by scoring 241 runs for four wickets in 43 overs. Travis Head scored 137 runs for Australia. The veteran players of the cricket world have congratulated Australia on their victory.
India’s 2011 World Champion team members Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag also cheered the team. Gambhir wrote, “Like I said, we are a champion team. So keep your heads up guys…congratulations Australia!”
Sehwag said, congratulations to Australia for winning the World Cup. They were the best team on the day of the finals. Travis Head, man of the match in the World Test Championship final, was absolutely incredible. Won the semi-final for Australia and played the best innings ever in a World Cup final and finished the match.
He said, “Australia’s decision to keep him in the squad even though he was ruled out of the early part of the World Cup due to injury was a great decision. We can hold our heads high for the effort our boys put in throughout the tournament. He gave us many happy moments throughout the World Cup but unfortunately he could not cross the victory line in the final.
Michael Vaughan tweeted, “Well done Australia, great win at home against a great team.” In my opinion, this is the team’s best win in the World Cup. Winning and getting trophies in India is the most difficult task.
Irfan Pathan wrote, “Well done Australia, you are truly world champions. Came back and beat a great team.
