India vs Australia: T20 cricket’s number-1 batsman Suryakumar Yadav has been seen struggling in ODI cricket for some time now. However, he was in good form in the first ODI against Australia in Mohali and after the match he also revealed the real reason behind his failure. SKY scored his first half-century of the year against the Kangaroos to guide India to victory. During this period he also played an important partnership with captain KL Rahul in tough times. After the match, when Surya was talked about his innings, he said that when he started playing in this format, he dreamed of such innings.

Suryakumar Yadav said after the match, ‘When I started playing this format, I was dreaming of this kind of innings. I was trying to bat till the end and finish the match, unfortunately couldn’t do it today but very happy with the result. I was wondering what was happening to me in this format, the teams were the same, the bowlers were the same. I went back and thought and realized that maybe I was rushing things a bit so I decided to play it slow and take it deeper.’

Surya, who is often dismissed while trying to hit oblique shots in ODI cricket, initially batted straight against Australia, but once he settled down, he entertained the fans in his own style.
Surya continued, ‘I think this is the first time I have not played a sweep. He comes from Chandu Pandit School of Arts (on his direct drive). Really enjoyed watching the openers bat. I want to try to bat the same way, bat deep, try and win matches for India.
