Injured Indian student dies in gym knife attack, attacker says – it looked like it

Washington: Last week, 24-year-old Indian student Varun Raj Pucha was stabbed by an assailant at a fitness center in the US state of Indiana. Varun Raj Pucha, a seriously injured student, was admitted to the hospital. The university where Varun was a student has informed that Varun has died.

According to news agency PTI, Andrade said he went to the gym’s massage room and met Varun, whom he did not know, but thought was ‘a little strange’. Police said he felt threatened by Varun and immediately attacked him. Varun, a computer science student at Valparaiso University, was stabbed in the head by 24-year-old assailant Jordan Andrade on October 29 at a public gym. The investigation is still going on in this matter. “It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of Varun Raj Pucha’s passing,” Valparaiso University said in a statement on Wednesday. Our campus community has lost one of our own, and our thoughts and prayers are with Varun’s family and friends as they mourn this devastating loss.

Following the incident, the attacker was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon and attempted murder. The university further said that ‘the university is in constant touch with Varun’s family, and we will stand by them wherever possible to get through this extremely difficult time.’ A memorial and memorial service is planned for Varun on November 16 on campus.

Varun was doing MS in Computer Science and went to America in August 2022. He was expected to return home (Khammam in Telangana) after completing his course next year.
