Is Chinese army standing on LAC even after Galwan Valley clash? This big claim has been made in the Pentagon report

India-China border dispute

New Delhi:

Cunning China is not getting away with its antics. Even after the clash in the Galwan Valley, it is fully determined to occupy the LAC (China on LAC). Amid ongoing border tensions with India, DRAGON has increased its military presence and infrastructure construction on the LAC from 2022. This claim has been made in a report of America’s Pentagon. According to the ‘Military and Security Developments Involving the People’s Republic of China’ report 2023, underground storage facilities, new roads, a dual-purpose airport and several helipads are being built along the LAC to boost Beijing’s infrastructure.

China is expanding infrastructure along the LAC

The report said that amid the ongoing tension between India and China on the LAC from 2023, India and the PCR have different perceptions on border demarcation. Recent infrastructure construction by both sides has led to several clashes between the two. At the same time, the military build-up on the LAC is also being considered as a major reason for the standoff between the two. The report said that in response to the Galwan Valley clash, China’s Western Theater Command implemented large-scale mobilization and troop deployment on the LAC.

This deployment is likely to continue till this year. Let us tell you that 20 Indian soldiers were martyred in the Galwan encounter. The report also indicates that talks between India and China have not made much progress as both sides are unwilling to give up their respective claims on the border. Charting Beijing’s infrastructure build-up along the LAC, the Pentagon report said that in 2022, China continued to develop military infrastructure along the LAC. China’s efforts include underground storage facilities near Doklam, new roads in all three sectors of the LAC, construction of new villages in disputed areas as well as in neighboring Bhutan, a new bridge over Pangong Lake, a dual-purpose airport. This includes the center area, base and some helipads.

No encroachment on LAC-Rajnath Singh

On military deployment, the report said China deployed a border regiment supported by two divisions from the Xinjiang and Tibet military districts along with four combined arms brigades in reserve in the western sector of the LAC in 2022. China similarly deployed three light-to-moderate CABs in the eastern sector from other theater commands and an additional three CABs in the central sector of the LAC. Most of the deployed forces are still present on the LAC.

In June this year, responding to the opposition’s allegations against the Narendra Modi government, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh had said that India was talking to China at both the military and diplomatic levels to resolve the issues. The government will not allow the sanctity of India’s borders to be violated. He said there has been some movement on the LAC since 2013, but dismissed claims that there would be any significant change or change on the LAC after the formation of the BJP. Govt. Encroachment has occurred. The Pentagon report also stated that China has more than 500 operational nuclear weapons and will increase to more than 1,000 by 2030. China’s navy, already the largest in the world, is growing rapidly.
