The father of one of the 41 workers evacuated from the under-construction Silkyara tunnel in Uttarakhand died because of his son’s anxiety. His family members gave this information. The son of Barsa Murmu (70), a resident of Jharkhand, died hours before he came out of the tunnel. Murmu was worried about his 28-year-old son Baktu after hearing the news of the tunnel collapse on November 12, his family members said on Wednesday.

Murmu, a resident of Bahda village in East Singhbhum district, died around 8 am on Tuesday while he was sitting on his bed. When contacted, local government officials said they could not confirm the cause of death, though Murmu may have died of a heart attack.
