Kane Williamson will captain the last series of 2023, the New Zealand team announced

Read on the application

Kane Williamson, the regular captain of the New Zealand white-ball team, will lead the team in the final T20 international series of the year. The three-match T20I series against Bangladesh will begin on December 27. The first match will be played at McLean Park in Napier. The second match will be played on 29th and the last match will be played on 31st December and then both teams will face each other in the Test series. Williamson, Jimmy Neesham and Ben Sears are among the players in the squad who did not even feature in the team’s last T20 series against England earlier this year.

Kane Williamson missed that series as he was recovering from knee surgery, while Neesham was originally in the squad to face England, but returned to New Zealand ahead of the birth of her first child. Sears was not part of the squad as Lockie Ferguson and Adam Milne were in the fast bowling department. The series is Sears’ first chance to play international cricket at home. So far he has only played on foreign soil. The New Zealand Cricket Board has rested some veteran players due to workload management.

Delhi Capitals approached Mumbai Indians for Rohit Sharma, but the deal fell through.

Regular T20 opener Devon Conway was unavailable for selection as he seeks rest after a heavy workload during 2023, while Michael Bracewell (Achilles), Lockie Ferguson (Achilles), Matt Henry (hamstring) and Henry Shipley (back injury) are injured. Trent Boult was not available for selection for this series. New Zealand team head coach Gary Stead said that the series is important for the team’s preparations for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup to be held in the West Indies and the United States next year.

The New Zealand team is as follows

Kane Williamson (capt), Finn Allen, Mark Chapman, Kyle Jamieson, Adam Milne, Daryl Mitchell, James Neesham, Glenn Phillips, Mitchell Santner, Ben Sears, Tim Seifert, Ish Sodhi and Tim Southee.
