KCR vs DK Shivakumar: Clash over “letter” to shift Foxconn AirPods unit to Karnataka

Sivakumar has rejected these allegations and said that the letter on the basis of which KCR made the allegations was fake. He also lodged an FIR at Vidhansoudha police station against the maker of the fake letter.

The Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) today accused the Karnataka government, particularly Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, of conspiring against Hyderabad.

“Karnataka Congress government has hatched a big conspiracy against Hyderabad. Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar has hatched a big conspiracy to shift national and international companies from Hyderabad to Karnataka,” BRS said in Telugu on its “X” handle.

Also, BRS alleged that letters were written to several companies offering incentives to come to Bengaluru.

A post on “X” said, “DK Sivakumar wrote to the CEO of Foxconn, the company that makes Apple AirPods, to shift it from Hyderabad to ‘Bangalore’. Kannada media has published that letter.”

The party alleged that the Kannada and English media had reported that the conspiracy to transfer the companies was real.

BRS said, “They have targeted Hyderabad for elections. The Congress government in Karnataka is plotting to shift industries from Telangana to Bengaluru. Let’s reverse Congress’s plots. Let’s bring back our KCR government.”

The party also posted a letter purportedly written by DK Sivakumar to Hon Hai Precision Industry Company Limited (Foxconn Technology Group) chairman Young Liu, bearing the Karnataka government’s green seal.

Asking Young Liu to invest in Karnataka, the letter reads, “On behalf of our government, I propose that you consider relocating the Apple AirPods industry, which you wish to set up, from Hyderabad to Bangalore.”

He further said, “This move will have many mutual benefits. It will not only complement the Apple phone manufacturing industry, but will also take advantage of the city’s transport facilities, infrastructure and available workforce.”

The letter said that several international industries from Hyderabad have shown interest in relocating to Bengaluru.

It said, “We hope to have a friendly government in Telangana soon, assuring that you will not face any hurdles there. Therefore, taking this step will be mutually beneficial for your supporting industry as well.”

DK Sivakumar has hit back at Rao. “Telangana Chief Minister held a press conference today. He is very scared. He has accepted the defeat of his party,” he said.

He said Rao posted the fake letter on a micro-blogging site and commented on it.

DK Sivakumar said, “This is a fake letter. My letter has different features. My letter has numbers. My letterhead is not in green. This is a normal MLA’s letter, which MLAs used about 15 years ago.” Now no MLA is using green letterhead. i know

According to him MLAs in Karnataka assembly do not use green letterhead.

Seeing the BRS conspiracy, the Deputy Chief Minister said, ‘I don’t know why these BRS people have stooped to this level and the Chief Minister is commenting on it.’

DK Shivakumar is also the President of Karnataka Congress. He said that he has asked his secretary to file a police complaint at Vidhana Sodha police station.

“Someone (has misused the signature. They have taken my electronic signature and put it on (a letter) requesting a transfer from Foxconn),” he claimed.

“It is very unfortunate but investigation will continue. It was a fake letter. We have not issued any such letter,” he said.

According to DK Sivakumar, “with this strong government in mind”, several multinational companies have expressed their desire to invest in Karnataka on their own.

In this regard, he said that he had a meeting with Toyota officials who wanted to expand their business in Bengaluru.
