Breaking all records, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) signed Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc for Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 for Rs. Bought for 24.75 crores. This is the biggest bid in the history of IPL. Till IPL 2023, no player could even touch the Rs 20 crore mark and in the IPL 2024 auction, two players crossed it and both are from Australia. Pat Cummins was sold to Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs. 20.50 crore and KKR won the war for Starc. Let’s understand what each ball bowled by Starc will be worth in each match. At the same time, the highest paid player in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), his annual earnings are less than Starc’s earnings per match.

Starc was sold for Rs 24.75 crore, thus if his per-match fee is calculated, it comes to around Rs 1.7 crore. The cost of throwing a ball will be 7.3 lakh rupees. The most expensive player in the PSL, his annual salary is Rs 1.4 crore, which is what Starc can earn by playing just one IPL match. IPL is currently the richest T20 league in the world.
After the IPL auction, 10 teams have arrived, 72 players sold for 230 cr.
When Pat Cummins was bought for Rs 20.50 crore in the IPL 2024 auction, it looked like he would become the most expensive player in history, but when the bidding for Mitchell Starc started shortly after, everyone was left watching.
