Virat Kohli and Naveen Ul Haq had a heated brawl, in which Gautam Gambhir also took part. Earlier also in 2013, there was a fight between Gambhir and Kohli as players. However, Gambhir has expressed his views on the matter several times on air and defended himself. Meanwhile, Gautam Gambhir shocked everyone by answering a question regarding Virat Kohli’s stats during the India vs South Africa ODI series and requested that this side of him be brought out as well.
After the third ODI between India and South Africa ended, Gambhir was asked which bowler Virat Kohli had completed his 50th ODI century against and without any delay Gambhir replied Lockie Ferguson. His partner in the program Piyush Chawla was also surprised by Gambhir’s answer. “You show this again and again, I remember everything,” Gambhir said with a smile. My fight is only on the field.
Gambhir has often been asked about the IPL 2023 controversy with Kohli. Recently, in an interview with ANI two weeks ago, he reiterated the same that he will defend any player in his team.
Gambhir said, “This is not about Naveen ul Haq. I will defend any player. This is my job. That’s just the way I am. Why shouldn’t I save my players? Just because the broadcasters are working for them. If I can’t stand up to my players then they have no right to keep me in the dressing room.
