New Delhi. Whenever we talk about Asian giants in cricket, the name of India, Pakistan or Sri Lanka comes up. Among the emerging teams, Afghanistan’s name comes first. But believe me, when the U-19 Asia Cup final was held, neither India nor Pakistan nor Sri Lanka were in it. Not even Afghanistan. The UAE team reached the final, which Bangladesh defeated to capture the title.
The final of the Under 19 Asia Cup was played between Bangladesh and UAE. Batting first, the Bangladesh team scored 282 runs for 8 wickets. Ashikur Rahman Shibli played a brilliant innings of 129 runs for Under 19 Bangladesh. Mohammad Rizwan scored 60 runs and Ariful Islam scored 50 runs.
The target of 283 runs proved too heavy for the U19 UAE team. The host UAE team could not even touch the 100-run mark. Bangladesh dismissed UAE for just 83 runs.
India and Pakistan lost in the semi-finals of the U-19 Asia Cup. Bangladesh defeated the U-19 Indian team. Pakistan U-19 lost to UAE.
