Oman’s Sultan Haitham Bin Tariq is currently on a visit to India. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held delegation-level talks with the Sultan of Oman at Hyderabad House in New Delhi on Saturday. Speaking at the meeting of the joint delegation, PM Modi said, “Today we are embracing a new India-Oman joint vision, a partnership for the future. This joint approach agreed on concrete action points in ten different areas. I am confident that our joint approach will give a new and modern shape to our partnership.
PM Modi also congratulated Oman for qualifying for the T20 Cricket World Cup. The T20 World Cup will be hosted by West Indies and America next year. Congratulating the Sultan of Oman, PM Modi said, “Last month, Oman qualified for the T20 Cricket World Cup to be held in 2024. Congratulations to you.” External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of State V Muralitharan and Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra were also present in this meeting.

The first match of T20 World Cup 2024 will be played on June 4 and the final on June 20. 20 teams will be divided into 4 groups of 5 teams each. The top two teams in each group will qualify for the Super-8 round. Two groups of four teams will be formed in Super 8. The top 2 teams from both the groups will enter the semi-finals followed by the finals.
