Sita Ramam: The Pan Indian film starring Dulquer Salmaan and Mrinal Thakur is titled ‘Sita Ramam’ and it is a blockbuster movie. The film was a success when released in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi. However, it faced bans preventing its release in several countries including the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman. The reason behind this ban is related to the content of the film. Set against the backdrop of war in the 1960s, ‘Sita Ramam’ is a period film that highlights some religious sensibilities. Due to these themes, the film was not approved for release by the censor boards in many countries. Hence the depiction of religious elements in the film led to bans in these areas.
