Karachi. Indian cricket team Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has requested the International Cricket Council (ICC) to enter into an agreement with it for the hosting rights of Champions Trophy 2025. Not only this, he also emphasized that PCB should be compensated if India refuses to visit his country due to political and security reasons.
An informed PCB source told PTI on Sunday that the ICC has selected Pakistan as the host of the tournament. However, a hosting agreement has not been signed with him yet. The source also revealed that PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf and Chief Operating Officer (COO) Salman Nasir met the ICC Executive Board in Ahmedabad to discuss hosting the Champions Trophy in Pakistan in February-March 2025.
The source said, “Pakistani officials discussed the possibility of the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) again refusing to send its team to Pakistan. It made it clear that under no circumstances should the ICC take a unilateral decision on the tournament.”
The source said PCB officials had told the ICC that if India refused to play in Pakistan on security grounds, the world body should appoint an independent security agency. The PCB said the agency may liaise with the Pakistan government and security officials to assess the security situation of participating teams other than India.
The source said, “PCB officials said that many top teams have traveled to Pakistan in the last two years without worrying about security. He also made it clear that the ICC would have to compensate Pakistan if India did not send its team for the tournament and its matches were held in other countries. ,
