New Delhi. The Indian team has confirmed their place in the finals by performing brilliantly in the Asia Cup Super 4. After crushing the Pakistan cricket team badly, Team India registered a thrilling win against Sri Lanka. India’s back-to-back wins booked them a ticket to the finals, but Pakistan’s loss has dashed their hopes of progressing.
The journey to the Asia Cup 2023 so far has been great for the Indian team. They had to share 1-1 points due to cancellation of group match against Pakistan due to rain. Team India won by 10 wickets in the second group match against Nepal. When they took on Pakistan in the Super 4, they staged a reserve day blast that dealt a huge blow to their arch-rivals’ hopes of making the finals. A massive 228-run win saw Pakistan’s net run rate deteriorate to such an extent that they could now be out of the tournament.
There is still hope that Pakistan is out
Pakistan’s hopes of reaching the Asia Cup final have been dealt a blow due to the big defeat against India. Team India beat Sri Lanka by 41 runs in the second Super 4 to become the first team to reach the final. Now who will be the second team will be decided by the Super 4 match between Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Currently, both the teams have gained 2 points with a 1-1 win.
If the match is washed out due to rain, Sri Lanka will qualify for the final and Pakistan will be eliminated. After India’s 228-run defeat, Pakistan have a net run rate of -1.892 and Sri Lanka top the points table with a net run rate of -0.200. Hence, even if the points are shared 1-1 after the match is abandoned, the Sri Lankan team will go to the final.
