Pakistan win and South Africa reach the semi-finals, understand how it happened?

New Delhi. The two teams that will play in the semi-finals of the ICC ODI World Cup being played in India have been confirmed. First the Indian team made their mark with seven straight wins and now Pakistan’s historic win against New Zealand has given the other team the ticket for another tour. In a do-or-die match, Pakistan kept their semi-final hopes alive with an impressive win over New Zealand on the back of Fakhar Zaman’s blistering century.

Batting first against Pakistan, the New Zealand team made a huge score of 401 runs for 6 wickets. Rachin Ravindra scored his third century of the tournament for the team while returning captain Kane Williamson played an innings of 95 runs. Apart from this, Glenn Phillips played a quick innings of 41 runs.

Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman destroyed the Kiwi bowlers by scoring a blistering century with the help of 11 sixes and 8 fours in just 81 balls. When the match was stopped for the second time due to rain in 25.3 overs, the team’s score was 201 for the loss of 1 wicket. After this the match could not be started and Pakistan won by 21 runs based on the Duckworth-Lewis rule.

Pakistan registered a great win against New Zealand and the South African team benefited from it. Even without entering the field, the team suddenly managed to make it to the semi-finals. The Proteas, who have won 6 out of 7 so far and collected 12 points, became the second team after India to make it to the second round. Australia, Pakistan, New Zealand and Afghanistan will compete for the two vacant slots.
