The person who approached Salman Khan for ‘Dabangg’ was none other than Arbaaz Khan. Recently, during an interview given to Mumbai Mirror, Arbaaz said, ‘The film ‘Dabangg’ was directed by Abhinav Kashyap. When Abhinav approached me for the role of Makki, I asked him why you are not offering me the role of Chulbul. But in his mind I was better suited for the role of Makki. After this I suggested Salman’s name to him for the role of Chulbul.

Arbaaz continued, ‘When Abhinav Kashyap told me the story of the film, the first name that came to my mind was Salman. He said that he wanted to cast either Randeep Hooda or Irrfan Khan for the role of Chulbul. However, the talk of the lead role did not reach the final till then. After this I offered him to produce Dabangg and said how would it be if Salman Khan does this role. Hearing this he immediately agreed.
Dabangg was a hit at the box office
Let us tell you that Sonakshi Sinha was seen in the lead role with Salman Khan in Dabangg. Sonakshi entered Bollywood with this film. Sonu Sood was seen in the negative role of Khedi Singh in the film. According to Bollywood Hungama, ‘Dabangg’ did a business of Rs 138 crore in India and its worldwide collection was Rs 221 crore.

These days Salman Khan is in discussion about his upcoming film Tiger 3. This film has Katrina Kaif in the lead role along with Salman. The film will hit theaters on November 12.
