UPSC Success Story 2023: Every year lakhs of candidates appear for UPSC exam to become IAS, IFS and IPS. Only few of those candidates succeed in this exam. There are some candidates who clear this exam more than once. Today we are going to tell about one such person. Who have succeeded in the UPSC exam for three consecutive times.
The person’s name is IAS officer Jivani Karthik Nagjibhai, who is a resident of Gujarat. He wanted to become an IAS officer from the beginning, for which he even gave up his IPS post.
This is Karthik’s educational qualification
Karthik Jivani has studied from a Gujarati medium school till the eighth standard. After this he took admission in an English medium school. After passing class 12, he appeared for JEE Main and Advanced exams. After clearing both the exams, Karthik took admission in a mechanical engineering course at IIT Bombay.
When Karthik was in the final year of his B.Tech course, he decided to become an IAS officer. After which he started preparing for UPSC exam in the year 2016.
After a year of UPSC preparation, he took the UPSC exam for the first time in 2017, but failed. After which he gave the UPSC exam in the year 2018. This time he has cleared the UPSC exam with 94 rank. In which he was selected for the post of IPS. He was just two ranks short of becoming an IAS.

When he was selected for the IPS post, he also started IPS training, but in the meantime, he also continued to prepare for the UPSC exam to become an IAS. Now Karthik decided to take the exam for the third time while his IPS training was going on. Let us tell you that IPS training takes place in Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy, Hyderabad. Taking a few days leave from here, he took the UPSC exam in the year 2019. In which he got 84 rank and this time also he got selected for IPS post.

While candidates do not clear the UPSC exam once, Karthik Jivani cleared the UPSC exam twice and got selected for the IPS post both times. However, he wanted to become an IAS officer from the beginning. After which he decided to take the exam for the fourth time.
Let us tell you that during his IPS training he used to prepare for UPSC exam in his free time. His hard work paid off and got selected for the IAS post by securing 8th rank in UPSC in the year 2020. According to his father, he took 15 days off from IPS training to appear for the UPSC exam.
Karthik used to study mostly at night. He did not rely only on books for his preparation, rather he took the help of study material and lots of notes available online to prepare for the exam.
Karthik said in an interview that he gives more importance to smart work than hard work. Due to this smart work, Karthik cleared the UPSC exam consecutively in 2018, 2019 and 2020 and got selected twice for IPS and once for IAS posts.
