New Delhi. After Sri Lanka’s Angelo Mathews was given a time-out in the World Cup 2023 match against Bangladesh, the debate about sportsmanship in cricket has again been sparked. Team India head coach Rahul Dravid said that a player should be allowed to follow the rules of the game if he wants to. Mathews became the first batsman to be timed out in international cricket when he missed a strike in the time limit against Bangladesh. There was a lot of controversy about this. On reaching the ground, Mathews realized that his helmet strap had broken and ordered a new one. The delay prompted Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan to appeal and the umpires called Mathews time out.
Rahul Dravid while talking to the media before the match against Netherlands said that everyone has their own thinking. We are special people. Everyone has their own mind and thoughts. There is actually no right or wrong. It is good to have this kind of disagreement. He said that if someone wants to follow the rules, I don’t think anyone should have any complaints about that, because honestly, he’s just following the rules, as we’ve seen. You may not do it, but you can’t blame anyone for following the rules.
There is no change in the playing-eleven
Regarding the match against Netherlands on Sunday, July 12, Rahul Dravid said that the team is only focusing on the match rather than the playing XI or the conditions. He said we got 6 days rest period. So the player is in a good position. At this stage, the players you think will be in the playing eleven are in the best shape mentally and physically, to play in the semi-finals and finals. From Dravid’s words, it is being speculated that there will be hardly any changes in the playing eleven.
How did Pakistan reach the semi-finals? A player gave away 530 runs alone, became the most expensive bowler in the world
It is known that Team India has won all the 8 matches played so far. The team is sure to top the points table. The team will face New Zealand in the first semi-final of the tournament at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on November 15. The second semi-final will be played on November 16 between Australia and South Africa at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The final match is scheduled to be held on November 19 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
