Ram temple invitation becomes a political issue, BJP mocks Left’s statement “Religion is a political weapon…”

The consecration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya next month has become a political issue. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has mentioned the sanctity of Ram Mandir on many forums. In the meantime, they are also taunting the opposition. In such a situation, it was a political issue ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in less than four months. Invitations for the January 22 event have been sent to religious leaders and politicians, but it is only the invitations sent to opposition leaders that are making headlines.

On Tuesday morning, CPI(M) leader Brinda Karat announced her party’s decision before leaving an event. Brinda Karat said, “Our party will not go to the Pran Pratistha ceremony organized in Ayodhya, we respect religious beliefs, but we will not attend the ceremony. We have basic and fundamental values and we want to be optional in the Pran Pratistha ceremony organized in Ayodhya.” But will not consider.”

Referring to the mix of politics and religion, Brinda Karat said, “We know that there is religious faith in the country and we respect it. We do not want to mix politics and religion and do not want to target any party. It is wrong. Using politics. It is wrong to use religion as a weapon. There should not be any partisan coloration related to religion in the country.”

CPI(M) leader Brinda Karat said, “We respect religious beliefs, but they are linking a religious event with politics… This is politicization of a religious event… This is not right.”

The construction of the Ram temple has been a major issue for the BJP. The BJP will vigorously raise this issue during the Lok Sabha elections next year as well. Union minister Meenakshi Lekhi hit back at Brinda Karat, saying, “… invitations have been sent to everyone, but only those called by Lord Ram will come.”

The Left leader is not the only opposition politician who has rejected the Ram temple invitation. Former Congress leader Kapil Sibal said that “Lord Ram is in my heart” and therefore, he does not feel the need to attend the ceremony, which will be a show of strength by the BJP ahead of the elections. Sibal said, “What I am telling you is from my heart… because I do not care about these things. If Rama is in my heart, and Rama has guided me on my journey, it means that “I have done something right. is “

Sources said that another Left party CPI is also likely to not participate in the Ram Mandir programme. The Left, Sibal, other opposition parties and leaders have presented their stand, but all eyes are on the Congress and its senior leaders, including party chiefs Mallikarjun Kharge and Sonia Gandhi. Lok Sabha party leader Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh have also been invited. It is not clear whether Rahul Gandhi has also been invited.

If BJP’s only real national rival accepts the invitation, it could potentially suffer a minority of votes. These votes are important in a state that has 80 Lok Sabha MPs and where Muslims make up about 20 percent of the population. In such a situation, the Congress has so far been cautious while reacting. General Secretary KC Venugopal confirmed the invitation and told the media, “You will be informed about the party’s stand… You will know on January 22.” “They (BJP) invited us. We are very grateful for inviting us…”

Taking a dig at the BJP for not inviting her, senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh asked, “What could be the problem” and said, “Either she (Mrs Gandhi) goes or the delegation goes…”
