UP Teacher Bharti: In a major relief to the state government, the Lucknow bench of the High Court has set aside the November 1, 2018 single bench decision to cancel the selection of 12,460 assistant teachers. Along with this, the court has released the common merit list for the remaining 6470 posts in the said recruitment and has also ordered the state government to fill them within three months.
The order was passed by Justice AR Masoodi and Justices Om A division bench of Prakash Shukla passed the hearing while hearing 19 special appeals filed on behalf of Mohit Kumar Dwivedi and other selected candidates. The selection process for the said recruitment was started on 21 December 2016 by releasing the advertisement. The single bench directed the state government to complete the above recruitments through fresh counseling following the rules of UP Basic Education Teachers Service Rules, 1981.
A single bench was sought to quash the notification dated 26th December, 2012, under which freedom to choose any district as first preference for counseling was given in districts where there was no vacancy.
Complete recruitment of remaining 6470 posts in three months
The court also found that 12,460 assistant teachers are currently working in the recruitment process after 5990 candidates have been appointed. Recruitment for the remaining 6470 posts should also be completed within three months. A two-member bench said merit should always be given priority for good education.
