S Jaishankar meets British PM Rishi Sunak, presents bat signed by Virat Kohli

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is currently on an official visit to the United Kingdom. Jaishankar has arrived in London on a five-day visit to Britain with the aim of reviewing various aspects of bilateral relations and giving “new momentum to friendly relations”. During this time he is scheduled to hold a meeting with his UK counterpart James Cleverley. He arrived in Britain on Saturday. His journey will end on November 15. Jaishankar is also scheduled to meet many other dignitaries during his visit.

During his stay in Britain, Jaishankar is likely to attend an event at Lord’s cricket ground and on Monday he is likely to address a Diwali reception hosted by the Indian High Commission in London. He may join the debate on ‘How a billion people see the world’ next week.

S Jaishankar will interact with British Foreign Secretary James Cleverley. It is expected that the talks will discuss preparations for a possible visit of British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to India in the next few months.

Earlier, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement, “Bilateral relations between India and Britain are increasing. During the visit, the Foreign Minister will meet his British counterpart Sir James Cleverley and other dignitaries.

The Ministry of External Affairs described the relations between the two countries as cordial and progressive. The India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership was launched in 2021 and under this the India-UK Action Plan-2030 was signed, which aims to expand the relationship in many areas.

The External Affairs Ministry said, “In the action plan, there is a commitment towards a partnership that will prove beneficial to both countries.” The visit of the Foreign Minister will give a new impetus to the friendly relations between the two countries.
