New York: A heartbreaking incident has come to light in the city of New York, America. A landlord is accused of trying to kill 8 people of the same family. Actually the family living on rent did not pay the rent. There was a dispute between the two regarding this matter. For this reason the landlord set fire to his entire building in which the family lived.

The man, identified as 66-year-old Rafiqul Islam, was arrested last month for setting fire to his Brooklyn building, according to Huff Post. Where a family with six children were tenants. In a Facebook post, the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) said the landlord was upset that the family had stopped paying rent and refused to vacate.

An FDNY fire marshal has made an arrest in an arson case involving a homeowner, officials said Friday. Investigators say Rafiqul Islam was angry that his second-floor tenant had stopped paying rent and refused to vacate the house. So he set it on fire on the stairs inside a building at 212 Forbell Street in Brooklyn. Two adults and six children were in the house at the time of the fire and they escaped.

According to the FDNY, fire victims disclosed that Islam threatened that if the family of eight living on the second floor did not pay rent, their gas and electric service would be cut off and the house burned down. Investigators investigated for four weeks and video from that day showed Islam, wearing a mask and hood, entering and leaving the home shortly before the 911 call. They also found a photo with the mask and hood down.

Fire officials said the fire started in a stairwell inside the building. According to the New York Post, the family of eight was in the home when the fire broke out, but everyone managed to get out safely. The parents allegedly threw the two children onto the ground in their neighbours’ laps. The remaining two children were pulled out by firefighters, while the parents jumped from the roof.
