Being dismissed for 99 runs in a cricket match and missing out on a century by one run is a very sad moment for any batsman, but there was one Test where not one, but three batsmen were dismissed at this unfortunate number. This is the only Test in the history of Test cricket in which three batsmen were dismissed on a score of 99. In the first innings of this Test played between Pakistan and England in March 1973 in Karachi, Pakistan captain Majid Khan and Mushtaq Mohammad were dismissed for 99 runs while England’s first innings was 99 runs. Dennis Amis was dismissed on this score in this innings. The match ended in a draw.

Not only that, in this Test too he got out between 80 and 90 and returned to the pavilion. In this match, Pakistan’s Sadiq Mohammad was dismissed on the score of 89 while England captain Tony Lewis lost his wicket on the score of 88. In the first innings, Pakistan scored 400+ and England scored around 400 but neither batsman scored a century.

In the Karachi Test, Pakistan made 445 runs for six wickets and declared the first innings in which captain Majid and Mushtaq contributed the most 99 runs each, Sadiq Mohammad 89 and Intikhab Alam 61 runs. Where captain Majid Khan scored 99 runs. Mushtaq was run out on 99 after being caught by Amis off Pocock. In reply, England scored 386 runs in the first innings apart from Amis’s 99, Lewis’s 88 and Keith Fletcher’s 54. Includes runs. Pakistan’s second innings was bowled out for 199 and England were set a target of 259 to win the match, in reply to which the team scored 30 for the loss of one wicket on the last day of the match and the match ended in a draw.
