This is the largest drone attack by Russia in a single night since September 30.

Ukraine said two people were killed and at least seven wounded in a Russian rocket attack in the southeastern region of Zaporizhia on Saturday. According to AFP, Kiev’s air force said Russia shot down 38 drones over its territory overnight. This is the highest number recorded in more than six weeks. Ukrainian police said Russia fired rockets at the village of Komyshuvakha, near the front line in the Zaporizhia region, which Russia claimed to have captured last year.

On the other hand, Russia’s Defense Ministry said its forces shot down 20 Ukrainian aerial drones in Russian-controlled parts of Ukraine and seven naval drones in the Black Sea off the peninsula adjacent to Crimea. Ukraine also said on Saturday that its forces were “maintaining their positions on the left (eastern) bank of the Dnipro River.”
Ukrainian and Russian forces have been stuck on opposite sides of the sea route in the southern Kherson region for more than a year, after Russia withdrew its troops from the western coast last November. Ukrainian forces have made several attempts to cross and capture the Russian-controlled side.
