An Uber driver earned Rs 23 lakh in a year just by canceling rides. A 70-year-old American driver started driving for Uber to earn extra money after retirement. Talking to ‘Business Insider’, the driver said that he was accepting only 10 percent of all the ride requests he received.
Bill (name changed) told Business Insider that he cancels more than 30 percent of ride requests. There was a special strategy behind it. According to Bill, he always looks for rides that are long distances and in areas where there are usually fewer taxis available and prices go up.
Finally, what trick did you use?
According to Bill, he made $28,000 from 1,500 rides last year. In terms of rupees it comes around 22.5 lakh rupees. It is said that I was working 40 hours a week. I used to spend most of this time in the Uber app checking which areas the ride requests I received were from. Can one take advantage of the extra fare there and get a two-way ride as well? If such a ride was not available, I would have canceled the request.
Let us tell you that usually during peak hours when the availability of taxis is less, the companies increase the fare more than usual. This is called surge pricing.
Used to drive taxis between 10pm and 3am
The old cab driver said that he used to drive taxi only in crowded areas. Like an airport or a bar. It is said that Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00 PM to 2:30-3 AM are very crowded with riders and also take advantage of surge prices during this time.
