In an interview to Bollywood Bubble, director Anil Sharma said, “I don’t want to name anyone, it’s not right. The media is free to name anyone. But we approached many top actresses of that time. Some people felt that we did not live up to their standards, they felt that Sunny Deol Sahab did not live up to their standards. They thought they were too big for us. They thought we were not ‘trendy’. “He didn’t even hear the story.”
The director continued, “Some of the actresses who heard our story felt that it was a period film and involved being dirty. Films were shot at international level in those days. They used to ask us to make ‘youth oriented’ films. They will make some excuse.

However, fortune favored the role of Ameesha Patel, who was also liked by the audience and both the films proved to be blockbusters at the box office.
