A teacher in the US city of Georgia has been arrested for threatening to cut off the head of a student in his class. The case is linked to the war between Israel and Hamas. The teacher said he was hurt by the student’s question about the Israeli flag. Another teacher has filed a complaint against the accused. The teacher said that the accused was shouting at the students in the classroom that not only he but also his mother should be beheaded for asking this question. The girl objected that why was there an Israeli flag in the classroom?
A police report obtained by ABC News claims the accused teacher, Benjamin Reese, has been charged with making terroristic threats and child cruelty. Houston County Sheriff’s Office reports show that Reece Warner was a social studies teacher at Robbins Middle School. He was teaching seventh grade on the day of the incident.
A news channel called American Network revealed that another teacher had reported the incident. On December 7, Reese was seen yelling at three students in a classroom. The report claims that another teacher heard Rees shouting at students, “I’m going to kick your ass! I’m going to cut your mother’s head off”. An official said several teachers, staff members and students heard voices saying the student was threatening students.
What made the teacher angry?
The student targeted by Benjamin Reiss told police she came to him to ask about the Israeli flag in her class. The incident report states that the student “pointed to the Israeli flag and told Rees she had any questions about it?” The student asked why the Israeli flag was hanging in his classroom. “He is Jewish and his family members still live there,” the teacher said. He got angry at the student’s question.
An incident report revealed that the student found the flag offensive. He claimed that Israel was killing innocent Palestinians. The incident report quoted the student as saying that the teacher misbehaved with the student. A report in The Guardian quoted police as saying Rees threatened the student, saying “I’m going to catch you in the parking lot. Then I’m going to cut your throat and kill you.”
