Axed at Shubman Gill’s feet, a decision that could ruin his Test career

New Delhi. Team India’s young batsman Shubman Gill has impressed everyone with his performance in all three formats of cricket over the past few years. Coming out of the U-19 team, the youngster has made his mark by cementing his place in the senior team. During the last Test series, Shubman Gill took a decision that was shocking. Captain Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid listened to this batsman and gave him a chance to play as per his wish. Now it seems that one decision of the youngster could ruin his Test career.

The Indian cricket team came to play a two-match Test series against South Africa. The series was a constant buzz and when it started on Boxing Day, Team India was under pressure. The host team captain Temba Bavuma won the toss and elected to bowl first. First the Indian captain Rohit Sharma got out and then Yashaswi Jaiswal got out and returned. Shubman Gill, who came at number three, also lost his wicket. At times, coach Rahul Dravid stood like a wall on this batting order and protected Team India from the opposing bowlers.

Shubman Gill hit him with an ax on his leg
Young Shubman Gill started his Test career as an opener for the Indian team. Playing consistently in the same order, he scored runs at an average of 43. Played two centuries in the opening innings and scored 874 runs. Even after being successful in opening, Shubham suddenly decided to play at number three. After batting in this order in 4 matches, this batsman has not been able to perform well till now. If we look at the last 4 innings, Shubman Gill at number 3 has scored only 6, 10, 29 (not out) and 2 runs.

Shubman Gill’s move is backfiring
Before the Test series against West Indies, Shubman Gill decided to leave the opening and bat at number three. His trick of coming down and playing without facing the new ball didn’t work. Captain Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid came forward on Shubman’s decision and said that they support the batsman and want to give him the freedom to play anywhere he chooses. The coach, captain and Shubman all wanted to fill Cheteshwar Pujara’s place but could not do so.
