Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) and Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) are both examinations that assess candidates’ eligibility to teach at the primary and upper-primary level. Candidates who want to apply for the post of teacher in government schools must clear any one of these exams. First of all let me tell you, CTET Exam certificate is considered more valid than TET exam certificate. Now you may be wondering why this is so.
So let us tell you, this is because CTET 2023 is a central government exam, which means this exam certificate is valid for all states. On the other hand, the TET exam certificate is valid only for the state in which it is conducted.
Thus, if the candidate is from a central government school or CBSE If someone is interested in teaching in a school affiliated with CTET then CTET is the best option for them. When a candidate is interested in teaching in a state government school, he/she should appear for the TET exam for the state in which he/she wants to teach.

State TET Exam
Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) is a state level exam similar to CTET. That is, after passing this exam, you become eligible to apply for the post of teacher. However, it is not conducted by CBSE but by various state governments. Like – UPTET, Maha TET, REET, Bihar STET, PSTET, MP TET, KTET, TNTET and others.
After clearing the TET exam, candidates become eligible to teach in schools run by the respective state governments. However, they are not eligible to apply for teaching jobs in central colleges like KVS and NVS.
Educational Qualification for CTET and State TET
Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) and Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) are both examinations, the certificates of which are required to be eligible for teaching posts in government schools. However, there are some important differences between the two exams.
Know about CTET
– The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is conducted twice a year by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
– CTET notification is released twice a year, while TET notification is released once or twice a year depending on the state.
– There is no upper age limit to apply for CTET exam, but different age limits are fixed for TET exam conducted by different state governments. While CTET exam candidates have the option to choose the language of the exam, candidates appearing for TET have to take the exam in the native language.
– The validity of both CTET and TET certificates has been extended for life by the National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE).
– Eligibility criteria for both the exams are same. Candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University and should have done B.Ed or D.El.Ed.
