Delhi Water Minister Atishi has expressed fear of water crisis in Delhi. In a note sent by the chief minister to the lieutenant governor, Atishi said that the Delhi Jal Board has an outstanding balance of Rs 910 crore, which is not being released by the finance department.

It is stated that the Finance Department of Delhi, which regularly issues installments to the Delhi Jal Board, received various objections and queries from the Finance/Planning Departments, which were responded to as soon as possible. But still the water board money was not released.
Delhi Jal Board had asked to release its installment in August 2023 but it has not been released yet. On November 17, the Delhi Jal Board Contractors Welfare Association made it clear that they would stop work.
Atishi has demanded suspension of Finance Secretary Ashish Chandra Verma and disciplinary action against him. Also demanded that the dues of Delhi Jal Board be released at the earliest.
